Ed Novak was born and raised in Hamilton. Ed studied fine art at the University of Guelph and at the Bellas Artes, San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. He also has a degree in Landscape Architecture.  Ed found out that he would much rather paint landscapes than build them. “I traded in the bulldozers for brushes.”  In 1986, Ed, his wife and two children built a house and moved to Muskoka. The wetland behind his house, the forest outside his window, the meadow down the street are all subjects for his landscapes. During the winter months, Ed captures the winter light and paints bowls with fruit or flowers. He is well known for his exceptional treatment of glass, crystal and silver. Ed paints large acrylics and watercolours depicting scenes of the Muskokan landscape as well as bold and vibrant still lifes. Original paintings and prints are available at his home studio/gallery in Muskoka.
